Denon DCD 3300, or Yamaha CDX 5000 Cd Player.

I owned the Denon 3300 for a short time. Maybe I had a
bad one or something but it was a truly awful sounding
thing. Cold, hard, thin, unmusical and loaded with digititus. Sounded bad as transport too.

Both are quite old school. In this price range, your money would be better spend on something like the NAD 541 with HDCD decoder. I had it once and it was quite good for the price.
