I think the term we are looking for is a separate "Digital Passthru"?

Marantz NA7004 has digital and analog outputs. But I don't understand what you want to do with the digital output (I listen to music daily and have several blu ray disc I like. Is there a dac that I can use behind my cheap dvd player that has both a analog and digital output... giving me analog out to my stereo system, 5.1 to my surround system... the two systems or not connected...)

If a DAC has digital outputs, its not a DAC.
