it may be time to go to a cyrus cd6 or 8. the 6 is very reasonably priced, and sounds as natural as lots of 'really' expensive players. the 8 is a tiny bit more detailed, but both an improvement from the pcmII(which is very respectable). the 6 also doesn't cost any more than some pretty average (but expensive) sounding used dacs.
Cyrus Upgrade
I've been using an old Mission Cyrus PCM II CD player for about 20 years now. And now (!?) time to upgrade.
With the status of things today, does it make any sense to use the existing unit as a transport and purchase a new DAC, or has even transport technology changed so much that upgrading to either a newer separate transport/DAC or CD player will make extraordinary differences?
