Cutting Digital Tracks Into Smaller Pieces

I keep the scoreboard at my son's baseball games and, in between innings, I play music. Of course, there is only time for a minute or so of each song, so the whole song is a waste for this purpose. Plus, there a ton of songs that have a good strong first couple of minutes but are 7-10 minutes long and they eats disc space fast!

Can anyone recommend a good shareware program for cutting digital tracks before burning the smaller section onto a CD? Obilged in advance.

Thanks, Ketchup. I tried it and liked it. I also tried one called Cool Edit that I found after posting which I like, too. Thanks again.
