Cut and Reterminate RCA SPDIF interconnect

I have a 3m shielded digital interconnect with RCA terminations and need to cut it to 1m to avoid coiling. The RCA connectors came molded from factory so if I cut it short I would need to use a a different RCA connector.  Just cut and solder, or need to be careful about something in particular?
