Cryo tubes...Are they worth it??

I have been a fan of tube and hybrid equipment for some time. I've seen some of the cryoed NOS tubes advertised for as high as $500.00+ per pair. Are they really better than
the equivalent tubes for let's say $100.00-200.00 per pair stock??? Experience/oppinions???

Not at that price! Hey, cryoed tubes do sound better. I had mine done by a guy who does it for many manufacturers and probably many of the people selling on audiogon. Go to www.cryogenicsinternational.com in Scottsdale and talk to Charles. If you want to try it, it won't cost you $500 for all of your tubes to be done. It is around $9/lb with a $75 minimum charge. How much do tubes weigh? Tell these guys selling for $500 to get real!
I had a set of Mullards, very nice, but the did not have the longevity they should have had. Could have been a coincidence, just don't know for sure.
Hey Hifimaniac! You are da man!! That has to be the best tip I've heard in ages. It's info like that which makes me proud to be an AudioGon member. Hope I can return the favor at some point in the future.

I second the idea of using Cryogenics International for your tubes, cables, interconnects, and power cords.
.
Your tubes won't probably weigh enough to cover their $ 75.00 minimum. Throw in a power cord, interconnects, or Symposium Rollerblocks (and some packs of new Razor Blades, you will be stunned how long your razor blades will last).
.
Keep in mind that you will have to re-break in any wires you get cryoed. It took over 200 hours for my speaker cables to break in again (at full playing volume), but in the end, it has been quite a sonic upgrade of my system.
.
Charles Beresford at Cryogenics International is a gem to work with.

Email me directly if I can answer any questions or help in any way.

I read somewhere that the actual benefit of Cryo tubes is that the tubes are "select" tubes, matched closest, lowest noise, etc., before they are cryo'd. ?????
