Crazy crazy crazy

If we ever get through all this craziness and Axpona kicks back up meet me on the second floor at the bar. I’m buying the first round. Stay safe friends.

I’m not sure which of my incendiary words took this thread into such a dark dark place so quickly. Was it craziness, Axpona, free drinks, stay safe, or friends? Perhaps it’s the fact the bar is on the second floor. How this turned political on comment number one is mind blowing. To say I’m shocked may be the understatement of the year.
Glupson, I'll be a little loopy by four but I'll hang in there. I just get happier! Four in and I'm looking for the VPI room to play with their tonearms.
Ok, here’s a thought. if my intent wasn’t political why are you people making it so? I was hoping to hear a “what kind of drink do you prefer?” to which I would reply “bourbon on the rocks. EH Taylor small bath. Absolutely tasty if you can find it.” Or maybe something like, “yeah after drinks I sure hope Yamaha shows up with the new 5000 speakers.”

Intentional/unintentional if you choose to go political beyond this point it’s on you.
Ipretiring I make a mean water & water on ice. Look forward to meeting you my friend.
@hilde45 - Thanks! As mentioned I'm a big fan of EH Taylor small batch but it's so doggone hard to find. As my backup (and much less expensive) is Buffalo Trace. A glass or two a couple of times a week always puts a smile on my face.

I have a number of Yamaha products (AS-3000 integrated and NSF-902 Speakers) that I thoroughly enjoy and last year at Axpona the Yamaha NS-5000 speakers were going to be displayed. I was bummed not to be able to get to hear that system.
LOL lpretirin. I haven’t even been drinking tonight! Too many of those waters and waters and it’s going to be Ipeetiring.

Nothing wrong with scotch alucard. Wow! 10. That’s going to be a mess!
@jperry - "I would be happy to have a Colonel Taylor with you. Let’s see if they have a bottle of single barrel."

You my friend I'll be hanging out with. Nice, nice bottle.

Thanks everyone for the responses. The only thing I find truly disappointing with this is waiting so long to meet you all.
Glupson- “There is no dinner menu. Bar opens at 10 am, I think.“

Pre-party starts at 9:00.
@pokey77
no drinking required my friend. Meet us in the bar.

@wyoboy
if they have it it’s yours.
Thanks jond. They are power hungry though so anyone considering the L200 will need to keep that in mind. 4 ohm, 86 db. It’s going to take a little grunt to get them sounding there best. They did really well with my Primaluna dialogue premium HP with KT150’s. My PS Audio BHK 250 is positively iron fisted with them. Their pricing would suggest being used with lesser expensive amps or receivers but I don’t think you’re going to get anywhere near their potential with low current amps. Pretty speaker too in walnut.
On a whim I bought a pair of Polk L200 bookshelf speakers. They are the latest from those guys. Not sure why I bought them really, I've never been much of a polk guy and I'm not looking for a third or fourth or fifth pair of speaker. I got a pair on Crutchfield as open box for a pretty good discount. They certainly aren't resolution champs but I was stunned at the sound quality from such small, inexpensive speakers. The ring radiator tweeter is quite detailed with zero harshness. Polk is poo poo'd around here but those are really decent warm sounding speakers for cheap.
lancelock how does Capitol audio fest compare to a Axpona? I have zero experience with CAF.
lancelock, though it's a little longer drive for me than Axpona I may have to give it a shot. I would like to get out of my audio cocoon.
I generally prefer the sound of copper cables over silver. Doesn't seem to matter which components either, I always seem to fall on the side of copper cables. My friends think I'm bat poop crazy that I would even have a preference (I'm sure there are plenty here who would think the same) but I do. Purely psychological? Maybe, but it's psychological phenomena that I prefer.
Jond, though they are pricey I have slowly changed out to all Acoustic Zen Absolute Copper speaker cables and interconnects with the exception of power cords. PC's have been from Danny Richie with GR Research. Great power cables for very little money.
ghasley, you had me at ground beef crunchy shell. I guess I’m a bit old fashioned that way, though I will never kick a lobster out of bed. Time will tell on the pan though.
“I believe the taco, a good enchilada, a finely crafted pork dumpling, a nice corn dog or a heaping serving of a fine shepherd’s pie all carry the ability to unify rather than divide. “
Amen brother!
I have put so much effort in equipment, cables, a/c, software, on and on but I gotta tell you the room treatment devices have really made a substantial difference. Corner traps have made a huge difference in my room that has never really been able to handle deep bass. It’s astonishing how deep and tight bass will go now. It floored me. I’ve got a number of different speakers and of the ones I’ve tried the traps have made a substantial difference. Don’t underestimate the sound improvements these devices can bring to your system.

Im still craving tacos after all that talk last night.
Wow, what a relief. After almost 900 posts on this messed up thread we are finally all in agreement on this contentious topic. Now we can relax. Good job everyone.
Wait a second, we’re not all in agreement?!? You mean all this contentious blather hasn’t converted a single person to your way of seeing things?? Well surely 900 more comments should do it. But I’m still sticking with copper cables.
BTW jond I feel your pain on having a room too small for corner traps. I’m pretty lucky in that I have an upstairs bedroom that’s my stereo cave (stereo lab is more like it.) Integrating sound control devices in a small or multi use living space is tough. I’m not even going to tell you what I’m using for the corner traps on fear of truly being considered this threads title.
Sns, speaking of devils poison if you’re a big bourbon fan go for the Stagg Jr. It varies in proof but routinely around 130. It comes complete with a designated driver. I’m not man enough to read the label let alone drink it.
“Duelund Tinned Copper cast Capacitor” I would love to have the ability to DIY with upgrades like this. Electrical engineering is just way over my head.
I’ve gotta tell ya’ decoupling has been much more effective for me than coupling. Sort of abandoned spikes and cones a while back. All isoacoustics now but had success with stillpoints as well.
With all due respect ghasley it’s ground beef crunchy shell tacos. I just don’t know who you are anymore. But in the name of unity let’s move past this ugly taco debate, it’s the kids that suffer the most. Everyone knows my stance on copper cables. I guess on to global warming.
