Connector Suggestions

Here's how you figure it out:

1) what connectors are on there now?
Try to establish a baseline - look here and on Audioasylum to see how people characterize their sound

2) what about them are you trying/hoping to improve
Look up some different mfgrs and see how people characterize the sound - in a few cases like Oyaide there are very specific descriptions of the sound based on the plating materials

3) what did you spend for the cables
Is it worth investing in them or starting fresh

4) how much do you want to spend to improve them
If you have a budget this has the (not so) pleasant effect of narrowing your search. Plese understand that there is generally no resale value for a DIY termination. If you are unhappy with the results you can probably sell the connectors for 35-40% of parts cost

5) how will you terminate them (do you have soldering skills or are you looking for a screw based solution)
Certain brands are better suited to those with no soldering skills - for example Furutech

As a sweeping generalization something in the Oyaide or the Furutech line will provide a SOTA solution

A: No connectors on there right now.

2) what about them are you trying/hoping to improve
A: Just want to ensure synergy between the silver ribbon conductors and the male and female connections.

3) what did you spend for the cables
A: The cables are Michael Wolff Gain PC's.

4) how much do you want to spend to improve them
A: $100 per PC.

5) how will you terminate them (do you have soldering skills)
A: The ends of the ribbons have holes, so I think that I might be better off going with the non-soldering option. I can solder if I need to.

If I go with Furutech, (based on my answers), what might your recommendations be?

First I would drop Michael a line - he is a very friendly and helpful person though I understand that at this point he has "retired" from the biz.

The basic rule of thumb is to use the same metal in the plugs as you do in the cable. I suspect that this matters more with interconnects and speaker cables then with AC cords

In the Furutech line I would go with the F-11. They have a gold male and a silver female (makes no sense to me either so check around). Obviously silver at both ends would be nice.

I have owned Michael's cables and one of the really great things about them is that they are very soft and not at all bulky. I like the size of the F11 with them.

And you will come in a bit under your budget.
