This MUST be a Phil Schapp production! He is the best jazz scholar I have ever come across. He has given me a great education for which I am very thankful.

The other DJ's take their cues from him, as he organizes these BDAY festivals. They are frequent on KCR.

Don't forget his morning Charlie Parker show "Birdflight".
"The Hawk" has a very attractive sound! I cannot wait for this
I agree chashmal Phil Schapp is an education in Jazz.
Probably more than any other player I know, the tonal beauty that Mr. Hawkins produced is a treasure. Listening to "The Hawk Flies High" is one of the great joys of owning a good system. I just wonder how well this works on radio/internet. I guess I'll find out Friday! Thanks for the heads up.

If you haven't already, check our Mood Indigo on Duke Ellington Meets Coleman Hawkins. It's essentially Hawk riffing over the entire song. It has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of tenor playing ever recorded.
