I did a lot of research on the SSP-800 and CP-800 recently for use as a music preamp.
Both have a loyal following based on my reading. I would expect the SSP-300 to have garnered similar praise.
That said, I did have the CP-800 in my system for about a week and was not able to achieve synergy. The unit also had a digital glitch that necessitated return. Be sure you can check the unit out before purchase since there's a lot going on inside these pre/pros.
