I also recently purchased a Salamander Synergy rack and I like it a lot. They are modular and come in different shapes and sizes and, like the poster above pointed out, you can build a virtual one on their web site.
I recently purchased a rack system. I went with Salamander Designs. Many of there basic rack/shelfs systems can be customized to suit the users requirements and taste. I spent many hours on there web page going thru the build it your self options. My personal choice was pretty basic but I can add sides, doors or any number options if the mood strikes.
I'd say Grand Prix Audio that is the best I've heard or owned though now I know there are a lot of other options out there. You could spend a lot on just a rack, though it can make a huge difference. Probably I think you don't have to spend that much to get a good sound. I sold my Grand Prix racks because I could not stand the way they look. I messed around with some cheap tweaks and found that I am just as happy with the sound I get without the Grand Prix Rack. Herbie's Audio is a good place to start his stuff works well and is cheap. If you like the looks though and just want to set it and forget it then I think it's pretty hard to go wrong with Grand Prix racks. If you really care to tune your system to your liking a are will to put in the effort then experimenting with different isolation tweaks is going to get you the best results and save you the most money. If you have 5 grand to drop on a rack then you will probably be pretty happy with the sound you get from that too.
