As regards the hardware (RCA's in particular), it certainly isn't audiophile quality. But just by being passive it is remarkably transparent. I found this out when I used it to replace an ARC SP-15 that was being repaired. There are better passive preamps, but none cheaper that I know of. As a believer in passives (if not for every system), I think you could do a lot worse.

i agree with Tom Nice. I used it in Leu of a missing preamp and found it to be very transparent. Keep in mind it has no tape loops or anything, just inputs. And you can't beat the price. it also is remote only.
