CD player recomendation

The Black Friday gods were good-hearted and I was able to purchase a Marantz PM-Ki Ruby amp and Elac Carina 247 floorstanders this week.  The amp does not have a DAC and the speakers have AMT tweeters.  I am not interested in streaming and only have a mild interest in SACD.  I would appreciate your CD player recommendations.

You should consider getting the matching Marantz SA-KI Ruby CD player to go with the PM-KI for best synergy.  Or get one of the previous Marantz Reference CD players such as the SA14-S1 on the pre-owned market.  I have the PM14-S1 and the SA14-S1.  Together they sound sublime..

Thank you for your suggestions.  I will research the SA14-S1 (I see there is one for sale in my area)  I concur that there would be a synergy in the Ruby cd player.  I realize this topic has been kicked around, but I am interested in your opinion:  would the SACD cd player improve the sounds of no-SACDs?

A better player will make your CDs sound better. Not because it plays SACD, but because it is built better. SACD is just a bonus.

Another option would be purchasing a CD transport and a standalone DAC. This is a “separates” approach which gives you lots of flexibility in choosing a DAC which has a huge impact in how your CDs sound.  This would allow you future expansion of additional components requiring a DAC since your amp doesn’t have one.  I am using a Audiolab CDT 6000 transport with a Denafrips Pontus II DAC and this pairing sounds awesome.
