The motor noise thru the speakers is probably a defective or loose noise filter (capacitor) across the motor terminals. The pops and crackles are probably dirty/oxidized/loose connections here, there or everywhere. I also agree with Edle - the power supply may ready to quit.
CD player making strange noises
When I turned my stereo on today and put a disc into my cd player, I could hear the disc spin through my speakers. Then when I hit play, I kept hearing small pops and cracks come through my speakers. Any thoughts on what's going on? Everything else in my system works fine.
