Acoustic benefit. A carpet between the speakers and your ears absorbs the first reflection point from the floor. Similar to the sidewall first reflection point.
carpet under speakers?
i see in a lot of system pictures that people with bare floors place carpets under their speakers. is this for any sonic benefit, or purely to proctect the floors?
i have a set of acoustic energy AEgis EVO I's on Atlantis SBF sand-filled stands which have spikes which sit in little metal floor protectors on my wood floor.
would (wood?) 80) i be advised to place carpet under the stands? does it matter?
