I would not say that they are bright at all. The treble is actually very clean and much to my liking. The problem area is in the bass response - it just has very little and just does not do what a speaker of this size should. As I remember there was even one review that I read that stated that without a subwoofer they just did not cut it. I actually owned these and felt that they sounded very nice , but ultimately lacked the bass output that they should have and were just too lightweight sounding.
