Thanks rixthetrick , very informative. It may boil down to 1s and 0s, BUT how it gets there through the ANALOG cable makes a difference in how it does sound. The lack of a quality signal, always equates to how well a component retrieves, transmits, receives and then DAC with only buffer and no correction, JUST estimation.
Granted the CODE that does the guessing is getting better and better, BUT, it is still CODE and SOMEONE’S own personality is reflected there.
Say what you will. I’d rather see a DAC chip designed with BOTH kinds of code writers. One that is a musician, AND a guy that KNOWS how to add elegance that is simplistic, thorough and compact in size and execution that reflects just that, Accurate and FAST conversion. Data is Data? I can’t remember that last time my cable actually transmitted a bad packet between router and consumer. Like ZERO. Transmission from the actual pole can be slower and have buffering issues, but ZERO packets have to be RE-sent, JUST SENT period..
Quality cable construction equals to higher SQ. Always has, always will.
The same goes for POORER quality CONSTRUCTION and the TYPE of materials..
So is it 0s and 1s or 1s and 0s? Just asking. :-)
