Can anyone answer this? What is a blue skinned cable??

I want to learn something new. If you can explain this, I would be grateful. If someone could provide a link to a white paper, a picture, or some measurements of this particular type of cable, that would be great.

FROM A PREVIOUS POST:

Who is Geoff Kait? Isn’t he the person who gave @teo_audio this idea? :

DIRECTLY FROM HIS POST

Let’s talk about a claim by a person who used to be here. Geoff Kait.

That a blue skinned cable can potentially sound different than a red one. Stated more as a blanket kind of fact, by Geoff, possibly phrased thus so people might try to get the point, is the guess.

The science of it is solid and is on the books and covers it in totality. Where, when all science and rigor in testing is dealt with, that this comment from him (which he probably picked up elsewhere) holds actual real water, in all scientific rigor possible.

geoffkait is trustworthy as a business partner, I mean if you are buying from him. I have never dealt with him that way, but have no doubt. His knowledge, though. Well, I have some doubts, but I am still giving him a pass. He is a joker after all. Decent one, at times. The trick is that you had to be on his level, at least, and most are not.

In fact, most of my uplifiting interactions with geoffkait were about Coronavirus happenings. He was way more reasonable than the rest of the crowd. Given the most likely inexperience with the matter, he showed much more restrained and analytical mind than the most.

Oh my, am I giving praises to geoffkait? The world may be coming to an end.

24 minutes and 31 second? Something like that.

I saw a flyer today for "virtual Easter egg hunt". Apparently, anything can be done from the distance these days.
millercarbon,

Remember that some people could actually counter geoffkait. No matter how hard you try, six months after his departure he is obviously still a hamburger and....well, someone has to be just an angry french fry, too.
"I think many of us are turned off by those who intentionally take advantage of the gullible, no matter their financial resources."

That is for sure. Still, I do not understand why one (claimed) NASA propulsion designer making shaky statements would be idolized while other (claimed) NASA propulsion expert making shaky statements would be ridiculed. Maybe the trigger for scrutiny should be (claimed) NASA.
mastering92,

I cannot help you with blue cables although I would recommend them if they match your decor. I barely paid attention to geoffkait's product claims and have no idea why anyone would order that phone call, if anyone actually ever has. I also do not see those claims being much more outrageous than claims of some magical paint on wall outlet covers, etc. Putting a magnet in the fuse box on the wall freezes orange juice in the refrigerator? Dare you question that.

Even if his audio knowledge were better than any, it would not guarantee him being praised here. In fact, it would irritate people who would then post all the negative things about him. Notice millercarbon's approach to geoffkait. geoffkait was easily the most vocal proponent of springs under the equipment and yet he is still ridiculed even about that by millercarbon. Who managed to jump on the springs wagon and make it his mantra.

That all is not to say that geoffkait was not irritating, but he was that on much higher level than many of the remaining ones.

Just wait and keep your mind open.
mastering92,

As far as fO. q tape goes, I have no experience, but here are few of the benefits...

A good record clamp is hard to find. Still happy with mine after all these years. It screws down with a simple brass thread insert. https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/8367

Thanks to your post about FoQ tape I got some and taped around the outer edge of the clamp and also on the center washer, so records are clamped between the tape at the spindle and outer label area. The improvement in detail clarity and presence was remarkable for such a small amount of tape. Thanks for the idea!

Yeah, and paying for all the wasted time running down dead end rabbit holes.

Probably the most important thing to keep in mind is the part of the signal that gives us our sense of exactly what instrument it is and exactly where it is coming from is exceedingly subtle, fine, and low in level. So low in level that even very fine vibrations are enough to blur and lose it. This is why things like fO.q tape work so well. This tape only damps micro-vibrations, but does this so well a very small amount produces a very noticeable improvement in midrange presence and detail.

The same happens when ringing is eliminated by putting the speaker on springs. Townshend Podiums are the best springs because they also eliminate tonal coloration caused by resonant behavior. But however it is done springs are the best at this by far, simply because they are the best at uncoupling the speaker from the floor.

"His phone call was the equivalent of a scammer overseas...who calls you, gets you to go into some scam site..."

I cannot know for the fact, but it would be a safe bet that geoffkait did not call people around to entice them to get scammed. In fact, he rarely mentioned his products here in some way that could be considered promotional. He kept his business side and his obnoxious opponent side separate. Many here cannot keep their love of fuses, displeasure with local government, ideas of how some foreign country operates, and rum-drinking listening sessions separate.

Nobody has a problem with calling a manufacturer to ask a question, but check Tekton Moabs thread for comedic approach to exaggeration in that direction. There is another thread with, actually, much more impressive hints at what you called scam, but I will leave that out of this for unexpected reasons.

Come to think of it, why is anyone so vocal about geoffkait’s phone calls that fix things? It is 2021. Age of Zoom meetings, doctor’s appointments and exams over the computer camera, virtual everything. Even millercarbon decides on how some high-end equipment will sound by listening to it on youtube via his computer speakers. geoffkait might have been a bit ahead of his, and our, time when he started it.

To make sure, I may be the person who directly argued with geoffkait the most over the last two years or so and his were the only posts (two or three of them) that I have ever reported for deletion. Still, compared to many who are left...

It is bizarre that I am the one "defending" him, but I dislike when those more senseless than him are painting just the half of the picture.

asvjerry,

"GK seemed many things to most...foil, fail, f'ker, fool, freak, punning fatalist, profound and profane."

Is there any significance in geoffkait's apparent predilection for F and P personality traits?
mastering92,

You are new around here. Many things mentioned about geoffkait may be true, but there is unspoken truth to it, too.

The longer I follow Audiogon without geoffkait, the better and less insane geoffkait appears to be. Most of the time, he could actually put a sentence together, make a joke even about himself, and he virtually never ever stepped into a political non-sense that permeates these fora. No bitter "that country is evil" posts, no "us vs. them", etc. In a strange way, and when not pinned with his back to the wall, he was more of a gentleman than many that remained.

I could not see him threatening physical harm to a member and his family, or challenging another member to meet for a fight.

As far as Teleportation Tweak, blue cables, and Morphic Fields go, are they that much different than orange, blue, or whatever other color fuses debated here ad nauseam? Are those stickers he was selling that much less believable than rubber bands from parsley bunches that millercarbon uses on his cables? Was his $400, or $1400 as millercarbon said, phone call to improve the sound of your system really that much different from phone calls to a speaker manufacturer after which you feel you just bought the best speakers ever without ever hearing them? To the tune of much more than $1400. And so on...

Have you ever heard of magical properties of fO.q tape under the speakers?
