Can Anybody Give An Example Of?

we danced all night to a soul fairy band

Can anybody give an example of a soul fairy band?  I'm at a complete loss, but I imagine that they would trip the lights fandango.

A soul Bearing Band? vs one on Broadway in SF, so what.. dancing is dancing..

Hat on the floor as me and my faithful companion slowly walk around the hat to the beat of the music. I stop. I stomp my foot. TWICE. The dog looks at me, and barks. Then we slowly back around the hat (she is still learning) to the beat of the music..

Olay Amigo!!

Tap, Tap, attention please, Cha Cha Cha!! Then the Tango!

Time to feed the chickens..

Regards

Okay so first off this is the Manfred Mann Earth Band song. Only everyone thinks of Springsteen on account of his cover was so good. Plus, you know, Springsteen.

But it's Mann. And the kids in the song, they are going out to Greasy Lake which is greasy on account of homeless people living around there using it for bathing and washing dishes and stuff. The locals call them Gypsie Angels instead of homeless, and so there's your first metaphor.

Remember this is back in the Summer of Love, the Age of Aquarius, Hair, Woodstock and all that. You weren't disheveled and badly in need of a bath you were groovy, baby! You weren't unemployed, lost and looking to get drunk and screw you were a free spirit getting in touch with the cosmos. You weren't rutting you were making love in the dirt.

So danced all night to a soul fairy band means pretty much what it sounds like. They screwed around until they passed out. Maybe the Gypsie Angels were howling in the background, beating sticks on empty tin cans, who knows? They were young and having fun. Nowadays we'd all have seen the selfies by now. Where's the mystery in that?

I love this scene for the way Tarantino contrasts the myth of the hippies with, you know, reality.

My favorite is the MAGIC moment when all ( not really all, in fact just a few.. ) of the evangelicals, klansmen, patriots, convicted felons, etc…fill in the blank… discover the fairytale Leonard Cohen Hallelujah song..you know the one …where she ties him to a chair…

i hear, in a certain state a self appointed vigilante will be able to sue any vacant singer of the song containing the original lyrics…we can hope..

Those "hippies" Tarantino was portraying were the Manson Family, who were in a category all their own.

That reminds me of my friend being in a record store many years ago, and overhearing a teenager ask, "Was Paul McCartney was in another band before Wings?"

Manfred Mann did a cover version.  IMO a fine version, but the problem with Manfred and Bruce is that Bruce says deuce and Manfred says douche.  But that's another song.

DeKay, I wasn't thinking of that, but it makes sense.  They would definite turn cartwheels 'cross the floor.

Springsteen hails from New Jersey so I'm thinking he probably got some Philly radio station.  In my mind I imagine a vocal soul outfit in matching tight fitting red or green tuxedos singing in falsettos.

@kb54 - it's as much a Manfred Mann song as 'All Along the Watchtower' is a Jimi Hendrix song - these songs were totally redefined by these artists, becoming big hits, and become something more separate from the original, I think....
