Buying speakers ten or more years old a good idea?

Just wondering , if it is a loss of advances in speaker manufacture, or if to many problems arise to justify the large savings over younger or new speakers

Unfortunately some speakers that are 10 years old no longer have parts available....some do.  But some have proprietary drivers that are long discontinued.   Especially a speaker like Thiel....  custom proprietary matched drivers .   B&W  CDM tweeters are no longer available.   A lot of the older KEF coaxial drivers are no longer available.     But some speakers like Klipsch Heritage can still be serviced no matter how old....   do your homework on parts availability first would be my best recommendation.
