Biwire to single terminal

I have a beloved set of shotgun biwire speaker cables, and am trying to ascertain whether I can use them with my new non-biwire speakers. The terminals on the new speakers can accept banana plugs or spades. My biwire cables have at their ends, for each speaker, two spade terminations and two banana plug terminations.
If, for each terminal on my new, non-biwire speakers I insert a banana plug and attach a spade, will the cables function as if they were single wires instead of biwires, or will performance somehow be compromised? To be clear(er), on, e.g., the left speaker plus terminal, a banana plug will go in and a spade will be attached, and the same for the minus terminal, will this work properly?
Thank you.
