Best "Island Song"

Tommorrow I leave for Holbox Island to swim with Whale Sharks and Manta Rays and I'd thought I would pass on some good tunes!

"Could You Be Loved" - Bob Marley
Grab your beloved woman and dance!

"Rat In The Kitchen" - UB40
Check out Herb Albert on trumpet!

"Brown Eyed Handsome Man" - Taj Mahal
Only Taj could do justice to this song!
jeff_l
"Do you want my job?" - Little Village featuring Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, Nick Lowe and Jim Keltner

A fantastic Island tune!

Enjoy,

TIC
Gary, I'll have to check out "Night Nurse"-UB 40 but Gregory Issacs's version does me in everytime. Check it out if you can.
Jeff, how about "Waiting in Vain" by the Honourable Robert Nestor Marley?
Me and my beloved will see UB40 at the "House of Blues" in Las Vegas on Aug 25th. Seen them there before. What an awesome show. Something about "Island Music" that makes people forget the "bad" and just dance!

Essery, you are right! the honorable Robert Nestor Marley is the greatest musical artist of all time.
Just got back from Holbox. Swam with over 20 Whale Sharks, tickled a Manta Ray on her belly, and swam with a school of 500+ Golden Rays - PRICELESS!

Here is an obscure "Island Album" that is so good I named my stereo after it.

Country Joe McDonald - "Paradise With An Ocean View"

ENJOY! Jeff
Calypso - Suzanne Vega
Walk Between the Raindrops - Donald Fagen

no Jimmy Buffett please
Gotta go with Kid Creole - a couple of dozen contenders come to mind, but I'll go with

"Something Wrong in Paradise"

or maybe "Haiti" or "Part of My Design" or.......

Marty

BTW, Marley is a great choice, but so is Harry Belafonte.
