A tape "input" (like Aux) is just another line input. All line inputs are the same except for a phono input (record player), which has a special preamp for the phono cartridge. You can connnect either component to either available input.
If your TV does not have an "audio out" to send to the receiver, then a VCR could be substituted for the sound.
