A great Burgundy, say a 2006 Volnay, full bodied yet nice and dry, not as forward as others but oh so satisfying, the velvet coating of the tongue, a beautiful hint of sweetness and such a beautiful finish.
The music takes on a more personal perspective without the dulling of the senses that others commit. It simply heightens the illusion that you and the music are one, or are getting there. There's almost an amusing quality to it.
YMMV but mine never does with this.

For the summer with rock music I prefer a martini. Plymouth gin, Dolan vermouth, orange bitters, and a lemon twist. For classical music it is generally red wine, which is currently the 2007 Cade cabernet of Howell Mountain. |

A girly vodka drink straight up. |
A fine sipping Bourbon served neat. Lights down low of course. Blanton's or Booker's goes well with the warm glow of the Pass Labs meter light on a cold winter night. |

Gslone: how does the 1738 compare with other cognacs at that price point? The best I've found to date is Pierre Fernand Reserve ($55 - $65). The Delamain Pale and Dry is the next step up but trying to find it for less than $100 is challenging and too $ for even moderate consumption. |

French Brandy in a pre-warmed snifter. Gives me an overall sense of luxurious contentment. I don't overindulge as I'm so often taken away by the music there is some leftover(which never fails to surprise me!) Cheers... |

Once in a while a scotch like Glenlivit 21 or Glemorangie 18. Usually spring water with a splash of pommagranite juice. |
