"Blood on the Tracks" by Bob Dylan
How about "Shoot out the Lights" Richard & Linda Thompson? Not divorced when it was recorded but you can hear the breakup happening
Love the first two choices. What popped into my head was Husker Du's" Warehouse".
Rosanne Cash "interiors"
beck "sea change"
"Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood.
Let it Be, absolutely!...but listening to Wish You Were Here puts a more positive spin on the idea of a "divorce". Without Syd the guys just took off into another realm... actually, opened that other side for all of us!

At least a couple of Elvis Costello albums--Imperial Bedroom, as well as Blood & Chocolate. About as between the eyes lyrically as one can get, and some pretty terrific music and musicianship. The Mofi vinyl reissues are pretty fabulous IMO!
Phases and Stages, Willie Nelson--tells it from both sides, as does the aforementioned Shoot out the Lights (equally great)
Without question Grace of my heart from Elvis Costello is a classic and song God give me strength won a few Grammy awards. This one goes right to the core !!
Another Classic is by Beck- Sea of change. No question about it ,

Is Harry Nilsson’s "You’re Breaking My Heart" a divorce song? Seriously…I can’t post the lyrics here, but I recommend looking ’em up to see why.http://www.metrolyrics.com/youre-breaking-my-heart-lyrics-harry-nilsson.html
^ That was the first song that came to mind when reading this posting.
@asvjerry Good call on the Jayhawks' song. Isn;t that the same album that had "I'd Run Away"? That's a tear-jerker.
And I've been listening to that Beck album since it came out and never realized it was a breakup album, though it makes perfect sense now that you mention it.
*G* Not familiar with the rest of the album...heard 'Blue' on a Euro streamcaster that I like to listen to (all the commercials are in a language I don't speak nor understand, so they're not annoying) and snatched it with Spotify. My 'collection' is a mass of vinyl, cassettes, cd's, and 'selections' gathered by what suits my fancy and mood. All genres, Laurie Anderson through F. Zappa, which most of y'all would find weird or disturbing....
I was born and raised in S. CA, so I have an excuse of sorts...;)
Whipping Post - Allman Brothers
Great call on Dear Jill. That first Pig album is a full on classic; not a stinker in the bunch. We covered two songs from that album in a band from my younger days. I would switch from keyboards to sax for those.
