Does not sound kosher to me, however, I am not speaking from experience because I do not own a Benchmark DAC.

My Benchmark DAC2 USB would on occasion do the same. I figured it was receiving an input signal from something that left it triggered on. I now have the newer DAC2 HGC there is always one light on & one light flashing. I only just hooked up the HGC and have not had time to mess with it at all other than a short listening session. I am hoping I can get the lights to go off.
Hi John, thanks and yes, I've been communicating with Rory (sales manager). He said his unit works the same as mine but isn't sure if this means both our units are faulty, so he's asked their tech guys to look into it and will get back to me.
Problem is, it's now been almost 3 weeks and I'm still no wiser.
On another forum, two Benchmark DAC 2 owners replied to me saying their units work as described in the manual and have advised me to get mine replaced.
Anyway, thanks again.
