I would not waste the time. The wire used in the power cord is OFC and pretty good. Also consider that you would be voiding the lifetime warranty by removing the stock cord. I have a PF60 in my HT system, and did cut the cord short and attach an aftermarket plug, but only because it was just way too long for my needs. The stock 45 degree oriented right angle plug also could not be used with my horizontally mounted wall outlet.
