Balanced interconnect from DAC to preamp...

I am looking for general discussion on pros/cons of using short run (1 meter or less) of balanced interconnects from DAC to preamp. What (if any) benefit does balanced differential DAC have to offer when paired with a preamp?

The primary advantage of balanced signalling is the common-mode noise rejection. If you have ground-loops that are causing buzzing or whistling, balanced IC's can help if inserted in the right places.

It is a common misconception that you can run balanced longer without degradation. The degradation due to capacitance is identical to SE interconnects.
