Audiophile's New Year Resolutions?

Ok, I've spent a small fortune upgrading this past year (again). I am satisfied with all my current equipment. Plinius SA250 MKIV, Audio Research REF 2, Meridian 508.24 CDP, Dynaudio Contour 3.3's, NBS Monitor I speaker and XLR ic's, Black Diamond Shelves, Viper Powersnakes, etc. I do not need anything else. My system sounds great. I can be quite satisfied with what I have for at least a few years.

I will not logon to Audiogon daily, just to check the new classified listings. I can't imagine my system sounding any better. (Although, I'd like to get shorter speaker cables and maybe check out a dac and there's all those hundreds of albums that I always took extra care not to scratch that a new turnatable...)Oops!

Happy New Year!
My audiophile New Year's resolution is to not buy any more gear in 2002 -- except for the stuff I either want or need.
Ya; my resolution is to stay away from all you sickies;that keep making me buy more and more. After all,I only have 2 ears.Watts/is watts; all cables sound alike; cd players all turn at the same speed;woofers is woofers; tweeters is tweeters. I just hope my illegal substances business picks up next year so I can be up there with Albert and Kelly.--Happy New Year to all!!
Buy more software and less hardware!
Now if I can only forget about the last two zero's on the check for the turntable and speakers at Rockport. We'll maybe first the lobotomy then the check. Or is it first the check, then the divorce, then the lobotomy.

Or is it first the tuition for the three kids at private schools, then the lobotomy then the check.

Maybe I'm so burnt out the lobotomy is superfluous.

If I only keep this up for all of 2002 I don't need to worry about the check or...

My New Year's Resolution is to find enough time to start really enjoying all the "stuff" I've been accumulating over the last year. Sometimes I feel like a junkie; I get overly anxious awaiting the next big day of new listings. It isn't enough that Audiogon has the most comprehensive variety of audiophile equipment available on any given day, but I feel like I gotta cheat on them and go wandering about on other like sites just to make sure that some other sneaky addict hasn't just listed that obscure and rare piece that I just knew I had to have and thought I'd never see for a price that I just couldn't refuse. Oh well! I know that if I don't keep looking every day, that the one day I miss will be the one day that I see that thing marked SOLD before I ever got a chance to make it mine. I got to stop..Please God, help this weak soul become strong again. Happy New Year everybody!!!
My New Year's Resolution is to get my system working again. It should sound wonderful after all the "down" time from construction.
My New Years Resolution is to attend the C.E.S/The SHOW in Las Vegas (Yeah...BABY!) I moved to Arizona in 2000, but couldn't attend in 2001 because I got dog sick. Already got a room and weaseled a C.E.S. admission tag! I'll be posting daily impressions...hopefully other AGON members will post, too! Happy Tunes!
Just as soon as I get the three big pieces ( Krell 600c, Wilson surrounds, dcs percel upsampler ) I swear I won't spend another dime on anything else.

Of course if Krell updates the five channel HTS to Seven, then I might do that and then of course I will need two more wilson surrounds......and then.... Oh the hell with it I'm screwed.
Sell off some of the extra tuners, preamps, interconnects, speaker cables, receivers, D/A converters, etc, etc, that are in various closets.
Don't replace anything that isn't broken and revisit all those old records that justify my continuing to own a turntable.
Pay off my credit cards before guys named Guido come knocking at my front door:~)
Think I'll just make bets with all the above posters that they won't keep their resolutions, and then use the winnings to fund MY addiction, heh, heh, ...

Best to everyone in 2002, it CAN'T be as expensive as 2001, can it?!

Looks like were all in about the same boat.

Albert has had one good advantage over most of us though. It's hard to buy when your system is completely torn apart for quite a while. As such, he may have actually saved money by remodeling his listening room. Then again, i don't think the labor, parts and engineering were cheap, so he might be WORSE off than we are. Plus he's probably going through "withdrawals" from not having his system to play with : (

If i can work towards getting what i have to perform optimally in 2002, i'll be happy. If i can do it without buying much more, i'll be ECSTATIC : ) Sean
My resolution is I will continue to keep buying and buying because I am addicted. So I am not going to pretend that I will not.Only kidding!Maybe I am not.Oh well,Happy New year to all.
I promise to buy only music I need.....and take me medication to help my addiction to music.....I didn't get the new Jan Arden-"Greatest Hurts" for Xmas and I need the new Barenaked Ladies and ..and.and...oh help me.....I'm over 1200 cds,,,and the vinyl.....maybe if I only buy two cd's a month and the odd vinyl it will be a slow withdrawal? Happy and an awesome new 2002 to everyone....good health and good fortune, good where is my glass of michurinetz? Nice medication.....cheers
The only thing thats changing in my system in 2002 is tubes. Of course if there is an offer too good to pass up maybe.....?????

Happy New Year to all my Audiogon friends. I learned a lot from you guys this year ! Thanks!
I think my goal for 2002 will be to experiment with and to make the most of a couple of digital room correction products. I have the Behringer 8024 in house right now and I need to figure out how to properly utilize its many features and modes of operation. I also plan on trying the new TacT 2.2X to see how much difference the (relatively) big bucks can buy. I see digital room correction as a big plus for home audio and I think the time has come to welcome it and get in on the benefits. These devices now seem to be transparent enough that the improvements appear to outweigh any negatives by far. Happy New Year to All!
My resolution is not to make any resolutions. I intend to continue to enjoy this hobby and this website throughout the coming year.
I usually tell people I gave up New Year's Resolutions for Lent (and vise versa).
......hadn't thought about it until I saw this thread-- a good one Ross. I've gotta go with Jond on this one-- buy more music and less gear. And Glen has a point about the credit cards....gotta keep away from Vinny at (almost) all costs. Seriously, 2001 was very good for my stereo system-- I added Vandersteen 5 speakers and am in hog heaven with them. So, don't know if I can keep it, but I'm going to try to find new/more music in '02. Cheers and Happy New Year to All. Craig
Software, piano-plying, live concerts, and getting the time therein!
My wish for the new year is to hopefully land a job (on second thought though it is nice being around the house all day just listening to music).
