are magico better than electrostatic

magico speakers do not eliminate rear wave energy. They contain it inside a box where it bounces around and much of it comes out the cone. Also being a multi way speaker it splits the signal up into parts then tries to combine them again. This is never going to be as good as having a driver that can actually produce full range perfectly, which currently doesn't exist.

So how good really is magico? how would it compare with the perfect speaker if it existed?

what makes a magico that much better than an average speaker such as ATC?

I think the OP's prejudices are not borne out in listening or science.

they have a horrendously expensive speaker called the Q1. basically a passive two way allegedly using superior parts.

now where is all that rear energy going to go?

The problem with magico is its an expensive speaker but it doesnt solve the main problem of rear energy absorption. Wouldnt you be better off building an anechoic room with that kind of money and putting drivers in a wall? or just vent the rearwaves outdoors so that they dont reflect back out the front. That would be state of the art.

what you are hearing with magico is part of the front wave mixed with some rear wave reflections. This cant be state of the art.
