Are audiophile speakers turn on for single women?

I recently purchased a pair of speakers that I showed to a non-audiophile female friend of mine. She said they looked beautiful and asked how much they cost. When I told her, her jaw dropped. She then asked if I was using them to pick up hot chicks. Hmm...I told her the only people who get turned on by my audiophile speakers are balding middle-aged men. She had a laugh, but I wondered if anyone tried to impress a girl with his stereo system. High end is a male dominated hobby like sports cars. So have you found a woman who was turned on by your system. I have had no such look. I just get blank stares when I talk about my hobby to women.

This thread is why audiofiles have such a geeky reputation. If you need your audio system to turn on a woman your in deep sh-t to begin with. Having said that, cheap women like surround sound and classy are 2 channel all the way.
It seems the consensus here is that all women are "Golddiggers". Having 3 grown daughters I can tell you that simply is not true. Guys tend to asume it can't be them. It's because they are not rich enough or their car is not cool enough. No, it's you!
WOW Magfan, not to much of a generalzation there. Classy, is a state of mind NOT of OWNERSHIP. But you obviouly have issues. For the record I have 10 cats and 3 dogs. Does that make me classy? To some yes, to others no. But most importantly, I DO NOT CARE! I see myself for who I am, not what I own. For what I do and not what others think. People can be self centered and ignorant at times. That is just the way it is. But don't worry about them or their actions, just worry about your own. It makes life so much better!
It is not that to many women are purely intrested in your money, if you really have any. It is the fact that you assume that is all they care about. You assume that it is the woman and not the guy's ISSUE. And it does work both ways. Both individules must see something in the other. Even if it is his/her speakers. Although this is highly unlikely, at least for him. As far as your girlfriend, does she know you referr to her as "groovy"? I mean is this a "Monkeys" episode? Or maybe the "partridge family"? Either way, stick with the car. And for the record, that is a pun, someone who showes off his or her possessions is likely trying to atract the same in kind.
