Apple TV Internet Radio

Are there any Apple TV users here?  I’m referring to the device, not the streaming service.  They recently did an update that has messed up my Internet Radio listening.

Our ATV resides in the living room.  It is part of a 5.1 surround sound system.

In our kitchen we also have the original Home Pod.  When we eat breakfast we usually just tell Siri to play WFMT, our local Classical Station.  At other times I use the Tune In app on ATV to listen to other Classical Stations from around the world.  I also have a Bluesound Node in the family room system.

The ATV did a recent update.  It totally changed Tune In, which erased our favorites, and made it difficult to search for stations (previously you could search by genre, country, and other means).  In addition Siri won’t play anything, stating there is a problem with my Apple Music account, which is paid in full.

The Tune In App on the Node is unchanged.  We can still pull in everything as before.  Apple Support keeps claiming the problem is with Tune In and ignores my point that on other streamers there is no problem.  They also can’t explain why Siri won’t play anything. The Home Pod shouldn’t even need an Apple TV to play Internet Radio, and our account is paid up anyway.

Wondering if anyone else is having an issue with ATV and Internet Radio

I’ll answer my own query.  Now one has to pay for what had for free before.  Apple Voice.  How stupid of me not to realize this was

Anything to do with audio/listening to music and an internet connection- pass

Apparently Apple hasn’t figured out that one can go to the IP site for the individual stations, then Air Play it to the home pad.  Probably the next update will nix that.

@mahler123  I know there was an update to apple CarPlay, same thing, my favorites erased in tune in. I had to login again and the reselect favorites in the iPhone app. Maybe something similar? I don’t pay for apple voice or tunein.

The Tune In App is a freebie.  It used to be included in ATV ( it would be on the opening screen) .  My ATV is a few years old and I gather now Tune In might have to be added from the App store.  At any rate the interface on the ATV version of Tune Inno longer allows a search by Country or Genre.  I also have a Bluesound Node2 and a Cambridge Audio streamers in the home, and Tune In is unchanged in their apps.

@mahler123  I will try the Apple TV tunein app this weekend. I typically listen to YouTube music when I use my Apple TV.

I checked TuneIn on the Apple Store, and they now want a monthly subscription, $8/month.  Yet it continues to be free on the Bluesound Node2-happily listening to it now-and on my Cambridge Audio streamer in a different system.
