Apogee Centaur Major Speaker Failure - Help Requested

Hi everyone,

I have had these speakers for many years and recently discovered that one of them has failed and needs repair. I communicated with Graz from Australia along with Bill Thalmann in Virginia and it appears the problem resides in the woofer, more precisely the "bass cone". This is going to require some trouble shooting, i.e., opening up the speaker itself to see if the fix is minor or major. I'm not comfortable doing the work myself and am looking for an experienced repair person in the Tri-State area who has knowledge/experience working with Apogee speakers.

Any suggestions/recommendations are much appreciated.

Ah shoot, my mistake, I should have posted this in the Speakers forum. Apologies.

Sorry, Gary!  That's a phenomenal set of speakers you have.

When you say "Tri-State area", it means - CT - NJ - NY, DE - NJ - PA, something else?

If that term means one of the two I listed / northeastern part of the country, a trip to Millersound in Lansdale, PA (30 minutes NW of Philadelphia) will solve your problem at quite modest cost.  Bill Legall will repair BOTH woofers, as it doesn't make sense to do only one of them.
Trelja,

I live in northwest New Jersey (just outside of Morristown) so your suggestion could be just the ticket. Brilliant! Thanks very much -

Gary
