I suggest trying the new Classic aluminum/stainless steel platter instead of the acrylic platter. This is a substantial improvement, more than what a mat will provide. I went from the standard acrylic, to the Super Platter, to the Classic platter on my Super Scoutmaster with rim drive and have not looked back.
