Anyone try center backs this way???????........

I was at a mid/hi-fi store not too long ago and the owner mentioned one of his customers does this with his center backs in a 7.1 setup...\

The center backs are monitors with front ports , they are placed on their backs' against wall on floor firing up to the ceiling, He tells me this makes the whole wall open up for surround because of reflections, now my B&W Dipoles are mounted on the wall so I cant and wont try this but has anyone done this?...I figured it was interesting enough to post.

I did it once when I did not have appropriate stands. If you're going for the rear ambiance sort of thing, it works. I would tend not to want to do this for multichannel hirez audio, where fidelity is more important.
