Anyone tried the Mapleshade Clearview PC Kit?

Mapleshade sells a kit that lets you "replace" a captive (hard-wired) power cord with one of their Clearview pcs. The kit consists of a new pc and a set of copper butt splices. Basically, you chop off the original pc, strip the wires and attach the Clearview using the splices. Has anybody actually tried this? I don't see how that can possibly work, but I'm willing to be convinced...

You know, on something like this, I would email mapleshades and ask them about actually connecting the cord to the internals of your component. Seems like that would make a better connection, and you'd get the maximum performance out of the product.
