Anyone considering not buying Chinese products anymore?

I’ve been giving this some thought lately due to the current situation.  I’m not real knowledgable about this sort of thing but I feel like we, along with other countries, have helped make China very powerful with regards to their economy and military, which is a scary situation.  I’m starting to think it would be wise of us to not to support China, simply for our own well being.  This would mean not buying any audio products made in China.  Im not even sure its possible to completely quit buying products made in China because so much of what we use is made there but is it smart to cut back where we can and start supporting small business’ in America?  There’s plenty of excellent equipment made here...

Are we allowed to say this?
China is a serious problem. Technically the CCP is the problem and not the Chinese people or companies.

???

Because mapman said this:
No doubt the Chinese Government  ( not the Chinese people who are also victims) has not acted responsibly

Or should his post be removed as well?
hilde45:Not sure what "waking up" means. Who is waking up?
People.

IMHO the one good thing about COVID is the visibility of just how much of our economy has been outsourced to China. Yes everyone inherently knew a lot of products and components for products have come from China for quite a number of years however, the magnitude is now front of mind. Hopefully we will not have a conveniently short memory and return to the same path... Yes it will take time and diligence to rebuild supply chains in the US and yes the cost and thus price will be higher BUT worth every penny!

So to answer your question yes I try to avoid Chinese products but it is more about human rights and Communism.

Wait. So its okay for you to mention human rights and communism? Interesting. Wonder if this will trigger some snowflake to have it removed. Or as I suspect it is okay for some to say, but not others. The standards certainly are not enforced equally, that is for sure.
Why are so many against international trade?

Straw man. No one is against international trade.
Our country was founded on this.

Absolutely false. We actually have these things called founding documents- The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution. Its a fact. You could look it up. Nowhere in them is anything like being founded on free trade. In fact to the extent trade was involved the country was if anything built on tariffs.

This free trade nonsense is so false it deserves special attention. The country in colonial days had little manufacturing capability. Many goods could be made much more cheaply overseas. But this would retard growth here, since it would be so much easier to buy than to make. Tariffs were used to level the playing field and encourage growth of commerce and industry here. Tariffs also fed the Treasury, helping to keep domestic taxes low. Both factors go hand in hand in improving domestic growth.

This is all basic history. Its advisable to read and learn and get your facts straight and not just repeat false talking points.
kevweldon-
I just canceled an order for a PrimaLuna EVO 400. I found out it was made in China. I currently have no amp but that is better than having this one from China.

Good for you. Raven makes a better amp anyway, and its made right here in the USA. Well technically Texas, which any Texan will tell you is even better. Depending on which one you get some of them even use capacitors they make themselves right here in the USA. https://www.ravenaudio.com

Really what concerns me is the Chinese Government and their military and economic strength; it’s somewhat scary.  I wonder how much of their strength is due to Americans buying and supporting them economically.

Pretty much all of it. Our trade deficit with China has essentially financed their military. That's oversimplifying, but accurate in terms of gross amounts. Also as accurately stated (in the post someone had removed) it is a fact that every large company in China is required to have a CCP party member on the board, and these companies are all required to have full and open CCP access and control. Every large corporation is not exactly CCP owned, but they are all CCP controlled.

The truly scary part is the degree to which the Chinese people are under CCP control. Every citizen is required to have a cell phone. In supposedly free countries like the US our cell phone data is mined for marketing data. In China it is 24/7 surveillance to the extent people are monitored and if they step off the curb too soon at the crosswalk or say the wrong thing they have points deducted from their social credit score and can find themselves unable to travel by train, or fly. There's a whole long detailed list of deductions and credits and penalties and rewards. In essence your whole life is under CCP control 24/7.

China dredged up the sea floor creating manmade islands that immediately became military bases and claimed to be part of the Chinese mainland extending mineral rights and control of vast areas of shipping lanes and ocean resources.

This is not racism nor is it opinion. I have a friend who is a Chinese national who travels internationally on business between the US, Canada, China, and the EU. He's a fine man and its an absurd, insulting, and typical technique to use racism to distract from the points being made, which are entirely to do with the Communist Party. Everything I have posted here has been run by him and confirmed. I'm not even telling you guys the worst of it, not even a tiny glimpse of what he's told me. No one who knew the truth would ever want anything to do with even the tiniest screw or battery from China. All of it one way or another goes right back to the CCP.
I have been looking for different options to buy rather than buying from China, further, I believe America should bring manufacturing products and jobs back to American soil! This outbreak proves we are way to dependant on foreign countries for goods. Right now I feel so mad at China for lying about Covid 19 and unleashing it on the world.

You're not the only one. Currently at least 120 countries are involved in taking legal action against China for its role in spreading the virus. Regardless of the question of the CCP engineering it in their BSL4 lab in Wuhan (it is not natural and definitely did NOT originate in a bat market!) the fact remains China told the WHO and the world there was no human to human transmission and it was racist to block flights from China for weeks after having stopped flights within China from Wuhan. That one thing right there is a violation of international health laws and several studies show these crucial weeks delay could have reduced deaths by 90% worldwide.

Italy, btw, I wonder how many know the Lombardy region so badly hit is home to a large population of Chinese with direct flights from Wuhan. Yeah. Let that one sink in.

People can argue all they want, the fact of the matter is supply chains are already moving out of China. Countries are going to be sanctioning and regulating and taxing Chinese companies precisely because this is a global economy, and so it cannot work with such a major power having no regard for the rule of law. It is not a case of we cannot go to war over this. We are already at war, only it is the unrestricted war of the CCP against the US and the world. But we cannot go to kinetic war. Although we may have to. Because all these 120 countries are not going to let this attack on the human race slide.

Many people who today parrot talking points without thinking (parrots are not known for being deep thinkers) will be surprised at the extent to which bringing production back home results in both higher quality and reliability but lower prices as well.
If you look at the science, as opposed to the scientists (who being human may have their own agenda), you will note three segments within the genome are exact carbon copies of other virus strains. While this does not rule out natural causes, its about as likely natural as throwing a bucket into the sun and watching it freeze instead of boil. Both are about equally mathematically possible. So draw your own conclusions.

But also at the same time if you look at the science the fact this was human engineered does not necessarily mean it was unleashed, and especially not if by unleashed you mean on purpose. China has a long history of accidental release. If you follow the story, this particular virus was stolen from the BSL4 lab in Canada. This is just a fact, they were caught in shipment. So its not like they are big on professional protocol over there.

People would know all this stuff if it weren't for the fact journalism is so dead that 99% of news is the same fake narratives repeated virtually verbatim 24/7 by thousands of talking heads who seem to be on different channels and formats but are in reality all controlled by the same few corporations.
I’m not trying to tell the world to love China or its policies, or Lichtenstein for that matter, I’m just trying to encourage others that it just isn’t rational to do so today because of a virus.

Is it rational to give foreign powers control over essential products and commodities?

Is it rational to ship goods back and forth across the planet when they can be made right where they're needed?

Is it rational to rely on trade agreements made with parties with a long history of breaking agreements and no respect for the rule of law?

I'm very interested in why anyone would think it rational to continue to do business with people who spy on and control their population 24/7 in flagrant disregard for universal human rights? Is it rational to support such a regime?

Technically, since you bring up rational thinking, the straw man is a well known logical fallacy. No one is talking love or hate or virus. We're talking international trade. The virus is merely the instance that made us aware of all these other situations. Why would you think its irrational to stick to the subject and discuss it logically?
The facts are its not unusual to have 60k die from the flu in a year.

The facts are we were told even if we put the whole country on lock down- WHICH WE DID- we would have at least 1 and 2 MILLION dead.

The facts are this is late May, and every hospital in the nation is NOT overwhelmed as we were told they would be.

The facts are many hospitals are so dead slow they are actually laying people off.

The facts are we put HEALTHY people in quarantine.

The facts are that the worst hit places had the most people die because the politicians acted as if they actually wanted the spread to be as deadly as possible. Cuomo for example FORCED nursing homes to admit Covid positive elderly.

The HOAX is we shut down the whole country for something hardly worse than the flu, when we could have saved far more lives by simply being more careful in our nursing homes.

That's true, the US has slave labor as well.

Yes. But I never figured you for one to know we are all debt slaves.

Birx (Penn St MD) and Fauci (Cornell MD) both believe that a vaccine may be the best course for the greater good. Viruses are a tricky business so I defer to you but do you believe, on balance, that vaccines are worthwhile?

I first learned about Dr Fauci reading about his role in the race to discover the AIDS virus in the 1980's. Fauci was a political snake then. Fauci is an even slimier political snake now. Birx is probably a younger version, I don't know. What I do know, the higher you go in medicine the harder it is to find someone not robotically captive to Big Pharma and Big Government.

I know health care from having seen it from the inside up close and personal some nearly 15 years now. Its gotten steadily worse to the point I could go on and on at length and in detail with stories, but what is the point when so many here have lost all ability to think or reason for themselves any more? Its sad, and frightening.

A very good case can be made epidemiologically, historically, and biologically, that is to say via three entirely different methods or approaches, that vaccines are at best partially helpful.

Historical records show for example infections already on a declining trend beginning and matching with the expansion in availability of potable water and indoor plumbing. Incidence was declining already and did not accelerate to any statistically significant degree with the initiation of vaccinations. There are also studies showing increased incidence of disease in modern times in countries where vaccinations were initiated. Hard to understand either of these if vaccines work. But like I have seen first hand with the flu, vaccines do not work. Or at least, not the way people think.

That's not nearly the best, but merely the easiest one to summarize.

Do you believe, on balance, that vaccines are worthwhile? That, Grasshopper, is a good question.
For those who may not know, I work in healthcare. Mostly x-ray but the last few years in a clinic where we do a lot of flu shots and flu tests. The flu shot just to be clear is a vaccine that is supposed to vaccinate you against the flu. Not "the flu" but the particular strain(s) big Pharma decides to make vaccines for. Each year a different vaccine. Very profitable. But I’m sure that has nothing to do with it.

So anyway every year in they come to get vaccinated. Then in they come with the flu. Typically its, "Feels like the flu but I had the shot." First however many times I would give them the, "Well you know its not immediate, it takes a couple weeks to build immunity." They got the shot a month ago. Oh. "Well its not for "the flu" but only the worst strain you probably got the other one." But then the tests would come back positive and for the exact strain they were vaccinated against.

For a while I would check and confirm because it was hard to believe so many people were catching exactly what they had been vaccinated against. Until one day I mentioned this, and not to an x-ray tech like me who sees few patients but a Medical Assistant who sees hundreds. And he says, "Yeah happens all the time."

And you know how there’s a way of saying it so you know its so true its beyond fact, beyond question, beyond any shadow of a doubt, they know its an absolute total waste of time? Like that. He said it like that.

But hey, all of you want to believe Big Pharma and the doctors and the fake news who work for Big Pharma, you go girl! Its your body. Your health. Your life. You go right on ahead.

China is a serious problem. Technically the CCP is the problem and not the Chinese people or companies. Unfortunately the way China works every company bigger than a mom and pop is required to have a member of the Chinese Communist Party on the board. A legal requirement of incorporation is to give the CCP full access to everything you do- financially, technologically, everything. The courts and legal system are all similarly run by the CCP. As a result there is in effect no sure way to separate the people from their government.

What are they doing? I was just listening to a report on how China is going to small resource rich countries all over the world lending Yuan to build infrastructure under terms in which if the loans default the property reverts to China. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7okwaCoCGM This example is Sri Lanka but its happening all over the world. The people who came to build these projects were mostly Chinese. The locals hardly benefit, if at all.

Huawei came out of nowhere by doing business in Canada, stealing technology from NorTel, and then expanding and selling it all over the world. They can do this because there is no rule of law in China because the CCP controls the courts. On and on like this across every facet of the culture.

This is all part of the official CCP policy of Unrestricted Warfare. We laugh at communist five, ten, and twenty year plans. They take these plans very seriously. The CCP means to be the #1 power on the planet, and they have a timeline and they have a plan. This is their plan.

The one good thing about the CCP virus is people are waking up to the realities of China. My Melody amp was designed by an Australian company and made in China. I knew this at the time but that was a dozen years ago, back when I bought the story of China growing up and becoming a modern Western nation. Not the reality of the CCP requiring everyone have a cell phone so they can all be monitored 24/7 with social credit scores determining their access to travel and jobs in effect making them slaves without chains. The CCP means to put the entire world under this regime.

It would be one thing if the products they made were any good. But they don’t make amps as good as Raven, speakers as good as Tekton, cartridges like Soundsmith, cables like Synergistic, and I could go on and on. We have all the best stuff. Sorry if that triggers some people but we do. No actually I’m not sorry. That’s just the reality. No point apologizing for reality. I will never buy a Made in China Prima Luna while I can get a Raven made right here in the USA.

Thanks for bringing this up. Our IT overlords will delete the posts and probably the whole thread in another of their obscene mini-Mao attempts at censorship. Or is it Stalinist? So many forms of tyranny, so hard to keep them straight. The fact seemingly apolitical guys are bringing it up shows the tyrants are losing. Good.

isochronism- Miller, I agree, and our strength lies in numbers for many to get on board.

Thanks. Many more are on board than you may think. Like on so many other subjects they are just keeping quiet because to speak up is to get personally attacked and bullied into silence. Or shadow-banned, demonetized, censored.

Case in point: can someone please tell me exactly what in the following violates the terms of service???

We can take it line by line. Where is the violation?
