Spencer
Spencer,

Thanks for the heads up.  I will do that.

Funny thing is that Rodgers' voice has not deteriorated in any way, shape, or form in the last 30 years.  That can't be said about most vocalists in their 60's.  Especially rock vocalists.

Oregonpapa can speak for himself, but I doubt that he made a mistake when listing 'Etta Jones'. She is another jazz singer with a big voice. Actually I like her better than James. If you are interested I'd suggest you listen to a compilation on High Note (HCD 7124) titled 'Always In Our Hearts', Etta Jones as we loved her. This might turn you on to a singer who was around for many years but for some reason we don't see mentioned often in these forums.

IZ, Chris Issac, Jason Mraz, Ray La Montoga, Steve Forbet, Bryan Ferry, Tift Merritt, Cowboy Junkies, kd Lang, kt Oslin, Cocateau twins, Jane Monheit, Linda Eder, Lorrie Morgan (not the country songs) Lucinda Williams, Sam Phillips, Alison Kraus, Mary Guthier, Crystal Gayle, Enya, Opera Babes, Gillian Welch, Jackie Evancho.

Robert Halford!!! back in the day definitely in top 10 vocalists of all time!!!
The Everly Brothers Cadence and early Warner Brothers recordings (on Ace Records, a great UK company) and Roy Orbison's Monument stuff. Great voices, great songs, fantastic production and sound!
