Any experience with Radford Speakers?

I have a chance to obtain a pair of original radford speakers.
They appear to be a three way system with a bass reflex port.
They stand about 5ft. tall. I wonder if the old drivers would be brittle at their age. They must be at least 20 years old.
They were a gift to the person who has them and they don't know anything about Radford. I know they are british but that is all. Where they ever considered hi fi? Thanks.

I never heard those, but I did hear the smaller Radford Tristars from the late 70s/early 80s. Great speaker the Tristar. They were made by Arthur Radford of valve amp fame (eg STA15, STA25 etc). the Radford speakers would certainly have been considered hi-fi then. If the rubber mountings have perished, then Wembley speakers in London may be able to refurbish them. Have a listen and see if you and your friend like them.
