No experience withe new STR. I would like to hear it. I have the older I225 and have only had one service issues. It is a beast! The volume pot went bad. It was under warranty from Parts Connexion. Chris installed a new 100k blue velvet volume pot and I elected to upgrade it with Mundorf AG capacitors. Nothing wrong with the Nichicon originals, still have them.
I have an Alamo dealer Local that sells Anthem as well as Masterpiece Audio. Good luck in you search.
Nutty’s comments are the specs for the STR Integrated Amplifier. If you are talking about the STR Amplifier it is more powerful with 400 wpc @ 8 ohms, 600 wpc @ 4 ohms, and 800 wpc @ 2 ohms. Of course you will need a separate pre-amp if going with the STR Amplifier.
I have the STR Amplifier and STR Pre-Amp driving a pair of Paradigm Persona 9h speakers. The set up is great. I tried out a few other options, including integrated amplifiers and separates (pre-amp and ampfiers). Loved the Anthem solution the best (even over other combos that costs more $’s). ARC works great. The DAC in the pre-amp is great. Plenty of headroom in the amp (remember the 9h is a hybrid so it is an extremely efficient pair of speakers). I would highly recommend including the Anthem products on your list for consideration.
I thought the comparison was integrated to integrated. Straight up specs 200 to 225 was what I was referring to. Looks like the new one doubles into lower impedences. STR integrated is one I’m definitely interested in along with the Lyngdorf Tdia 2170.
