They can be simply different factories and different vintages and at worst one or both is a rebrand. Telefunken reportedley did some outsourcing at the end of it's tube making run.

first of all thanks to hanns for the reply! when I received the pre it had 4 6er5 and two 12au7 teles on the pre side and 6em7 and 6x4 on the power side. the telefunkens both say 12au7 but they are different sizes height wise...how can this be? Im new to tubes so this is confusing to me ...thanks for any reply!
