Amazon FireStick w/Kodi (Jailbroken)

Hello Again All:

After going through a hiatus in Home Theater for the last few years, I'm ready to get back into the game again.  And so much has changed since the last time I was heavily into Home Theater.

The last I was so heavily involved into Home Theater, we were still using Direct-View TV's, DVD Players, then Blu-Ray Players, and now, that has given way to Flat Screen Wall Mounted TV's, Affordable Front Projectors/Screens, and a hand held apparatus that's about the size as a Flash Drive (but has major movie playing artillery), that has 1080P playback capability, they're rated for 5.1 Channels of sound, and they can also playback 7.1 Channels of audio.

These FireSticks have done all to pretty much make a stand alone DVD/Blu-Ray Players irrelevant in this day and age.

Now, what I want to do is tap into the enormous sound quality that these tiny little Flash Drives are capable of delivering.

I am considering a modern AVR from either Denon or Yamaha (and leaning towards Yamaha).  I do believe these newer receivers have HDMI connectivity.  But now, both my Flat Screen (a Vizio) and both of the Receivers I'm considering both have HDMI (with ARC) featured on them.

If I want to play the soundtrack of a movie back in surround sound, do I hook my FireStick into my TV??  Or into the Audio/Video Receiver)??

Thank You In Advance For Your Help.

I can only get my KodiStick to play 2.0 stereo only. It does do 1080P video, but I can’t seem to get the audio in anything but stereo. The thing is also the biggest pain in the a-- to use. It works when it wants to. It’s kinda cool when it operates properly, but you need to have patience.

I have an older Denon receiver and the KodiStick will NOT work in it’s HDMI ports. It only works on my TV’s HDMI’s. I have heard that it will work in a receiver, but have yet to actually see this.
