The Producers - You Make the Heat, side one is as good as rock-pop gets, the other side I haven't even cleaned on my current copy.
almost great lps.....70s=80s
ac/dc-flick of the switch ...side one of this vastly underated recording does rival "back in black"...no joke...with "rising power","nervous shakedown", title track,etc being obvious highlights...side 2 outside of "guns for hire" does lose some steam and suffers from the usual side 2 blues...but all in all...a very good to at time great rock lp...if u dont take your rock too serious...who does?
the knack-one of the best selling debuts of all time...this lp certaintly has its moments...highlights being the "mid" section in "my sharona" with the solo..."selfish" and "frustrated"...all 3 are great 2 chord grinders ala the kinks...some of the pop songs are too cute...and the lyrics are laughable...but the Knack were very talented musicians...and there is no shortage of good to great tunes here...alot of fun...great drummer
Gary Myrick and the Figures-one of the great forgotten lps of the 80s...this manages to mix pub rock and new wave very nicely....think a hipster, edgier Tom Petty...but with equally good material..."living diaster", "model" and
"she talks in stereo" are worth price of admission alone...recently on cd after being OOP for decades...this is a real treat for power pop fans...
the church-blurred crusade-one of the best 2 guitar bands of the 80s...the church blend electric and acoustic jangle with a slightly psychedelic perspective...includes guitar work out "when u were mine"...a fine lp....
