Acoustic Zen Adagio + REL Strata iii's

I purchased a pair of Acoustic Zen Adagios last week.  They took some tweaking, but eventually they sounded spectacular.  It is my plan, however, to purchase a pair of subs for a bit more bass extension and what they can do for the soundstage.  Well... it will probably be a few months before I can afford them.  It will also take some time to research, audition, etc.

But... this afternoon, I noticed on CL a guy selling a REL Strata iii for $450.00.  I called him up and asked him if he would take $300.  He did!  It is in PRISTINE condition.  After about two hours of fiddling with it, I sat in my listening area and was blown away.  Form Coldplay to Johann Strauss,  the Eagles to Hilary Kole, it was amazing.

A couple things.  Teajay, if you are out there in cyber space--thanks again for the good advice.

For those who are still considering whether they should add a sub (or subs) to their two channel setup, find a good deal and give it a shot.

Finally, when I start looking for matching subs, my first stop will be REL.  Don't know if they will be the ones I will end up with, but they have definitely earned a careful look.

BTW, does anyone know where I can get better cable than the stock one?
I was listening to the Adagios a few weeks ago and I must say that they sounded really nice. I went a different route though but I am using Acoustic Zen interconnects and power cables throughout my entire system. That would be my suggestion because they represent great value for the performance they deliver.
I should have been more specific.  I am looking for better cable with the Neutrik Speakon connector.
The Acoustic Zen speakers have a transmission line bass, if I remember correctly. You definitely need a sub with them if you are looking for some kick in the bottom end. The Strata III should add that for you nicely.

I have owned several REL subwoofers and still have a pair of REL Storm III's. They are really nice and IMHO the "ST" series are great... I love downfire. The newer REL subs do not do it for me. The Strata is a great sub, I owned one. A pair would be sweet.

As far as an upgraded cable, there are I think two seperate guys on Audiogon that are making nice cables with the Neutrik connectors. I have two of them. Nice looking cable - not sure if there is an audible difference, but I like them more than the stock cords.
