I agree with your current thinking, there is no reason to have your AC cables the same size.
AC cable length for active speakers
I'm planning to upgrade the AC cables to my active speakers. From the dedicated line sockets the cheapest would be 1 metre for the right side and 3 metres for the left.
So far I've always used 3 metre cables for both sides for the sake of symmetry. But now I'm thinking that there is no real reason for that provided that the cables are otherwise identical. Any thoughts would be welcome.
