@charles1dad  Hi Charles thx for your kind words. The feeling is mutual my friend! Don't really post much but, do check the site regularly. I don't know what is happening made a long post twice and it disappeared! I'll just get straight to the p...
Is there a Solid State amp that can satisfy a SET guy?
First Watt SIT-3 if you can find one or the new FW SIT-4 should make you happy. I alternate between my SIT-3 amp and 300b Franks on my Horning Eufrodite Elipse. They both sound wonderful with the rest of my equipment!
Speaker Pairing - First Watt F8
norust, I read  you are from the Southeast. If you are going to visit Greg at Volti Audio. You should definitely check out Colin at Gestalt Audio in Nashville. He has Horning speakers and Wolf Von Langa speakers. The WVL Son speakers would be a go...
Speaker Pairing - First Watt F8
Hornings would make a great combo. I pair my Hornings with a FW SIT-3 and Frankenstein 300b mono blocks. The sound is so lifelike and natural especially with Jazz and female vocals.  The F8 would drive them with ease.
Grimm MU1 Streamer - Really "The Best"?
Hi Thyname, The Grimm MU1 was at the CAF in the GTT Audio room. Bill was running it with Mola Mola gear and Vivid speakers. I wasn’t crazy about the sound it was a little bright. Maybe it was the Class D amps? I have the Grimm MU1 and Mola Mola T...
SET Lovers, what's the one solid state amp you love(d)?
Just read coachpoconnor comments and agree wholeheartedly! I also have a Supratek preamp and synergy with both amps are excellent!  The SIT-3 doesn't have much gain, so it is best with a Preamp that has gain on the higher side.
SET Lovers, what's the one solid state amp you love(d)?
First Watt SIT-3. I mostly use my Coincident Frankenstein Mk.II 300b monoblocks The SIT-3 is also enjoyable! It has that nice SET type of sound, but isn't fleshed out as much in the midrange. For a solid state amp it is really great with a grain f...
Grimm MU1 Streamer - Really "The Best"?
@nyev   I have a Jorma, HIJIRI HDG-X, and borrowed my friends Tron. All three are excellent AES cables and would be happy with anyone. None blow away the other. The differences aren't night and day. The Jorma might be more open in the treble and ...
Grimm MU1 Streamer - Really "The Best"?
Nyev, if you want Vana Ltd. in Nesconset, NY deals with Jorma cables. I received mine from him and it is an excellent AES/EBU cable.
The New Synergistic Research Purple Fuses
Can anyone tell what the differences would be going from a SR Blue fuse to a SR Purple. I want to replace them in my DAC, Preamp, and Amp.
Grimm MU1 Streamer - Really "The Best"?
Glad you are enjoying your MU1 and Tambaqui combo. I have the same setup and love it. Give your MU1 and AES/EBU cable a couple hundred hours of break in. It will get fuller and better tonally without losing that openness and detail. The dynamics a...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend
The Tambaqui is real nice and the Kassandra is killer!

Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed?
Hey Robert you have really fine set-up. Your dac isn't the problem. I have the same dac and it is a really good dac. Try some room treatments if you can it makes a big difference. Your Focal speakers can be a little bright with bad recordings.  M...

jackd, I am waiting patiently for your comparion between the CDT2 and the CDT3. I have the CDT2- MK.3 and think it sounds excellent and built like a tank. Want to know if the CDT3-MK.3 is at much higher level, It does cost much more. I seen the p...
