Please Advise me on Building a System on a Budget
I'd start with NHT Super Zero and subwoofer. Reviewed in Stereophile 2 issues ago. I would also look for a Naim Nait integrated. An Oppo or any descent Digital source a Rega RP1 turntable with arm and I believe cartridge Ready to Play. Interconnec...
Upgrade Sota Comet or buy a used table?
Why don't you just change the arm to a Rega 301 or older RB300? If the table is working then that would be the wise thing to do. I feel the Aries is a superior table to the Comet and offers better isolation, etc.
Covering a naked platter- MMF 7 has no felt pad
I owned a mmF 5 and I didn't use the felt pad. I used a clamp and the glass platter. The fet pat produced static and sometimes it was nasty static. So for that reason alone I didn't use it. Just the platter and the a record clamp was perfect. Besi...
Tube preamp integration
You get the best of both worlds when you use tubes and solid state together. You get the sweetness of the tube preamp and the tightness of the solid state amp in the bass region. I'm using a Adcom GFA 535 (original) amp with a Tutay Modified VanAl...
B&W in best buy
You can bet they won't have the top of the line in their stores in smaller markets. They already have Martin Logan in their major markets. I don't know what they are driving them with but in recent times many of them are being driven with very goo...

He told him to never touch it.
All Amps Sound the Same....
No, he still reads Stereo Review magazine. LOL
Klipsch lascala subwoofer?
All you need is 1 good sub and it can be placed out of the way with a long interconnect. That is the best way if you want to augment the bottom end which it does not have. Remember bass notes are not directional. I hope I said that correct. I have...
Budding Audiophile Seeks Speaker Guidance
Visit your local Definitive Technology dealer and listen to the Home theater systems they offer. They start at $600. I heard this system at a local dealer and with all the big systems sitting around I didn't know which speakers were playing and th...
VTL Terrific Support
I'm glad many of you have had great experiences with them. I owned a ST85 tube amp. The amp just happened to be brand new but sitting in a dealers showroom for nearly 8 years. When I called to see if there were any upgrades they told me the min it...
magnepan experimenting
Wouldn't switching the position of left speaker with the right speaker do the same thing? My MG12's sounded better with the tweeters in the middle but with the speakers spread further apart. That worked for me. And then when I had the tweeters on ...
Best Amp for Magnepan 1.7?
I would still choose the Moscode 600 or 401 or the newest version. IMO there is something magical with those amps and Maggies. Don't forget McCormack amps.I think the Bryston will be the best value per dollar and you can mate it well with a good t...
Unecpected and not understood tweek - help?
Contact Musical Fidelity with the same question you posed to us. They may be able to give you a better answer or at least a faster one.
Nola Boxer speaker - for condo system
I use to own the Alon I MKII's and I prefered solid state on them. I use Odyssey Audio Stratos and it was excellent. The Karthargo is from the same cloth and less expensive. I have heard of Odyssey Audio having an Integrated amp but I have never s...
Been clean for over a year....
I agree Jea8. Listening to and enjoying the music rather than the equipment is a huge step for many of us. I'd say you have truly graduated or made a huge step in the right direction. Kudos and continued happiness and enjoyment.
