Jfrech's system I've moved. I have also recently added a 2nd BAT amp (VK 150se's now), a Finite Elemente Master Reference rack, 5 sets of Cerapucs, 1 Cerabase, 1 Purist Dominus XLR interconnect, 1 Purist 20th Anniversay Interconnect and 2 Purist Anniversary power cords (amps), Upgraded from Watt Puppy 6's to Watt Puppy 8's WOW !! Several new pics just posted... April 2009 I have made some major changes. Couple of criteria, 1)I live in Tx and it's hot. I wanted something that ran cooler. 2)At the height of my former all BAT system, I had 50 !!! tubes. It cost a fair amount over the years in tubes (I've owned various BAT pieces for 10 years) 3)I felt I could get more transparency. 3)I felt I could get a better sweeter, more extended top end 4)I wanted to get away from the 6H30 tube. The NOS tubes are stupid expensive and I didn't like the sound in the top end compared to a 12ax7 or 6922 for instance. So with those things in mind I set out. Auditioned at home 5 different amps, 3 preamps. I am sure I had more options to consider, but I stopped here b/c dealer in Austin gave me a super trade in on my SME 20/2 IV.Vi arm, BAT VK150SE's and the 51SE. And this system just nails it for me. I have everything I love about tubes, but now 6 tubes vs 50! I have nothing but supreme compliments for my former BAT gear. Other than a tube here or there, I only had one issue in 10 yrs! (failed MOV-just a part, not really BAT's fault). I was very close to buying a REX, more tubes and the heat is what stopped me. Summer 2011 I've added a Grand Prix SilverStone rack and switched to Transparent cabling. After a long love affair with Purist. It's really a system matching thing with the Wilson's, one is NOT better than the other. |
