What SOLID STATE preamp recommended for the JC-1?

Agree with Bryceeboy that the Blowtorch is superb, and the way to go if you can swing it. However, for quite a bit less money, the GamuT C2R is a very nice unit. I'm a dealer for the Parasound JC-1's as well as for GamuT.

CTC Blowtorch, by a significant margin. More affordable units offering good performance would include Ayre.

Yep, the Blowtorch is expensive and only sold direct, custom built to order.....It has been lots of fun to build something that is closer to art than anything else in the marketplace, but few are interested other than as a curiousity about what can be achieved.....We built it for ourselves and if we sell some that is OK, but treat any profits like found money......I have over a dozen Blowtorch customers who use it to drive JC-1s.....Pretty much a match made in heaven.....Ah, now for the good news as looks like CTC will design a preamp for Parasound in the next year or two.....No, it won't be a Blowtorch, but it will offer great value for the bucks involved as does all the Parasound gear......

Blowtorch, Blowtorch, Blowtorch!! geez, what IS it with this thing- even if it IS God's gift to preamps, don't these guys want like, $15k USD or something like that for it?? What IS the price anyways??

Each one is built to order and prices range from $12K to over 20K depending upon what you need.....Tape and/or output buffers, phase switch, phono, fully balanced operation, etc.....Weight is around 80 pounds......Warranty is lifetime, ours or yours......We build four or five a year is all and have over twenty in the field now.....

Guys,Guys, I cannot afford 15K for a preamp! Anything REASONABLY PRICED [under $3,000.00 used,or less] that will match and sound really great with the JC-1's?

Try one of Charle Hanson's Ayre preamps.

Hmm, I was thinking about matching a Rowland Synergy IIi preamp with a JC-1. I can't afford a $15000 preamp, either...

Anyone try this combo yet?
